Une Randonnée nous iron

(A hiking we will go)

Daniel and I decided to take Monday and go for a hike.  We hopped the train and rode for about an hour outside of Paris to a little town called Étréchy.  It was a cute little town with houses built for snow and creative brickwork designs.  We didn't walk far before we started up through the trail at the end of the street.

We had some great views of the country as the path wandered in and out of forest and then pastures.

Horses!  Daniel did not try to pet the horses.

It wasn't long before the trail merged with country roads through farms.  I found a little corn to play in, but mostly wheat, lots and lots of wheat.

We encountered three different kind of wheat fields what those three different kinds of wheat were? don't have the foggiest.  There were several very cool moments when a stronger breezed picked up and rustled the wheat is this very gental hum, very "Field of Dreams"

We tagged onto another town on the walk... Chickens?

There was another group hiking our same path with a two/three year old.  The kid greeted us at one point and tried to alert us to something, but we could not make out kid french. I imagine it went "Look at all the wheat" when we passed the group again I did clearly make out "Regarder les poulets""Look at the chickens."  We laughed a bit when dad started singing "Alouette."

Us in front of wheat!

We stopped for a bit in the grass for lunch.  Unfortunately it was super buggy in any kind of shade so lunch was cut a little short as we both gathered a halo of gnats... yuck.

After about 3 hours we looped back to town, following somewhat understandable directions from the internet combining several different trails.

Daniel's Birthday Present on it's first trip.

We meander the town a little bit and finally found all two blocks of the downtown of the city.  One things we continued to notice every single house had a fence and most were stone and looked pretty old.  We got a eclair from the one open bakery, it was Monday, and sprawled in the local park and enjoyed a breather before heading home.

Upon getting home we made shrimp scampi, cooking with real butter is amazing... amazing, and then found ourselves a local bar for a glass of wine.  An excellent day.
